Migraine and tyramine
Cured cheeses – such as blue cheese, Brie, Münster, cheddar, parmesan, mozzarella, Swiss cheese, and feta – contain high amounts of tyramine, a substance that forms during the breakdown of proteins. The longer cheeses the greater content of these substances. It is worth mentioning that tyramine can also contribute to raising blood pressure. Other foods that contain tyramine are red wine, alcoholic beverages, cured and canned meats, onions, pickles, chickpeas and beans, raisins and avocado.
